1. Why should I participate in the Erasmus program?
  • To benefit from a rewarding academic and professional experience!
  • To improve my linguistic and cultural skills!
  • To increase my chances of networking and contact!
  • To gain greater cultural awareness!
  • For personal enrichment!

2. What are the deadlines for registering?
  • Applications for the 1st semester - Until March 1st
  • Applications for the 2nd semester - Until July 1st

Mobility must take place between September and July of the same academic year.

3. Who can participate?

Staff [teaching and non-teaching], with a European spirit.

4. What are the selection criteria?
  • Relevance of the teaching/training plan;
  • Framework of the plan for implementing the internationalization strategy of ISCE/ISCE Douro;
  • Language certificate level;
  • Participant’s mobility history;
  • Certificate of acceptance from the president of ISCE/ISCE Douro and the Course Coordinator;
  • Certificate of acceptance from the host entity. Candidates must contact the institutions where they intend to undertake mobility to obtain a prior acceptance letter signed and stamped by the host entity.

The candidate must send all these documents by email to the CCRI, within the deadlines indicated.

5. How is the selection process carried out?

The ranking of candidates and the number of scholarships awarded are published on the ISCE/ISCE Douro page. Following this, the selected candidate has 30 days to send by email to CCRI: the STA (Teaching) or STT (Training) Agreement, completed and signed by the participant and signed and stamped by the host entity, copy of identification card and IBAN , in order to receive the scholarship. In case of withdrawal or changes to destination, the selected candidate has 10 days to inform the CCRI in writing.

6. How long does the ERASMUS experience last?
  • Minimum 2 days, maximum 2 months (for Program Countries).
  • 5 days (for Partner Countries [ICM], excluding travel time)

In both cases, a teaching activity must encompass a minimum of 8 hours of teaching/week or for reduced mobility.

7. Which institutions can I go to?

With regard to mobility for teaching purposes, this can be carried out in a Higher Education Institution (HEI) in a Program Country, with a European Higher Education Charter (ECHE) or in a Partner Country, duly recognized by the competent authorities of the your country and that has an interinstitutional protocol signed with ISCE/ISCE Douro, before mobility, within the scope of ICM (International Credit Mobility). Mobility can also take place in an organization, public or private in a Program Country, that carries out functions in the area of work or in the fields of education, training and/or youth.

With regard to mobility for training purposes, this is still permitted in higher education institutions, or any public or private organization active in the job market, even without an interinstitutional protocol previously established. The remaining conditions are similar to mobility for teaching purposes.

8. How are mobility grants awarded?

The scholarship is divided into two parts:

  • 80% of the trip and per diem value. Before departure, the participant must deliver to the CCRI the documents indicated in point 4., signed by the beneficiary and the host entity, also stamped by the latter, as well as the IBAN and identification card.
  • Final 20% . Upon return and upon delivery of the Certificate of Attendance, the original STA or STT and the completed online report.

10. What is the European Health Insurance Card?

The European Health Insurance Card is a free card that guarantees citizens of one Member State the right to healthcare during a temporary stay in another Member State of the European Union. All students traveling abroad must apply for the European Health Insurance Card at Social Security, at Loja do Cidadão or via the Internet. Get more information here.

11. What are the logistical issues of transportation, accommodation, food like?

All practical issues related to travel/travel, accommodation, food and others are the sole responsibility of the participant, as they are part of the Erasmus experience. Either way, we suggest that the participant contact the host institution to find out if they have any procedures to follow. If there is no offer or you do not like it, we recommend consulting Uniplaces ( www.uniplaces.com ). The grant awarded (travel and per diem) is to cover expenses. If you travel in your own vehicle, you must obtain prior authorization and present all proof of tolls at the end.

12. What is essential for the Erasmus participant?
  • Comply with all deadlines and necessary documentation;
  • Ensure that functions at ISCE/ISCE Douro are not penalized during mobility;
  • Keep all original documents;
  • Prepare linguistically and culturally (a fundamental requirement in some partner organizations, which require a certain level of knowledge);
  • Ensure all practical aspects of the trip;
  • Inform the international office of the host entity of the day and time of arrival, the flight number and the airline. Some of these institutions have a reception service upon arrival;
  • Make sure that everything is guaranteed with the accommodation (normally handled with the support of the host entity);
  • Ensure that all legal documentation from the host country is processed, namely the residence visa, if applicable, with the respective Embassy or Consulate;
  • Request a European Health Insurance Card (CESD) from Social Security or ADSE in your area of residence, which guarantees citizens of a Member State the right to healthcare during a temporary stay in another Member State of the Union European. Alternatively, you can take out private health insurance;
  • Inform the CCRI of the address and contacts abroad;
  • Inform the CCRI of all changes made to the work program.

Furthermore, it is important to remember that during mobility at the host institution the participant must strive to represent ISCE/ISCE Douro well and develop their action by ensuring attendance, commitment, participation, involvement and being sufficiently motivated to fulfill the mobility to the end, always in the best way.
