The Department of Education is an organic unit of ISCE, established in 2009, dedicated to teaching, research into educational policies and practices and intervention in the field of education and training.
It promotes demanding training that provides students with learning conditions that allow them to intervene in different educational and training contexts.
Its training offer is aimed at diverse audiences, from the youngest who begin their higher studies, namely through the Degree Course in Basic Education and the Higher Professional Technical Course – CTeSP - in Support for Children and Young People, to those seeking develop new skills within the scope of their life projects and their professional trajectories, through postgraduate training – Master's Courses in Pre-School Education, Pre-School Education and Teaching of the 1st Cycle of Basic Education, education special and specialization courses.
It considers research to be its driving activity, seeking to respond to the challenges of education and innovation, through the production of diagnostic and prospective knowledge, privileging studies focused on the challenges of improving educational practices and training offers.
It intervenes in the educational community, through its complementary training offer, consisting of Seminars and Training Actions, which seek to articulate initial training with the ongoing training of educators and teachers.
It participates in academic and cooperation networks with Portuguese-speaking countries, from where it has welcomed postgraduate students.
It participates in spaces where education is thought about, discussed and implemented, and works to be an organic unit of reference in the training of early childhood educators and teachers in the 1st cycle of Basic Education.
